Christmas With Pen Pals

Texting may be a more modern form of talking to friends, but whether you text or write letters, the one main way to give them something is through the mail. So today I’m going to be giving some ideas for gifts that will fit in an envelope, and ideas for cute cards! You could obviously just buy them something, but if you’re looking to make them something instead, this is for you!
We’ll start off with some gift ideas, and then go into card ideas!

Gift Ideas That Fit in an Envelope:

  • Stickers- homemade or bought ;)
  • Bracelets- you can easily make these, and they fit nicely in an average envelope
  • Tea- if your friend enjoys this kind of drink, pop some teabags in your letter!
  • Dried flowers- these are a pretty gift to send, and they are sort of a souvenir from where you live!
  • Drawings/paintings- draw or paint a beautiful picture for your friend!
  • Small crocheted items- this is a bit harder, because they have to be pretty small, but it’s possible!
  • Bookmarks- you can buy these, or you could make some yourself!
  • A DIY craft- you could write instructions for a craft that uses everyday materials and send it!
  • A mini book- write a short story, print it, press it so that it’s flat, and put it in your envelope :)
  • A ticket to them or you- this one is expensive, but would be absolutely incredible, for sure!
  • A list of movie or book ideas- write out some of your favorites on a cute piece of paper!
  • Pictures- if you’ve ever visited your friend, send some pictures you took together as a touching gift
  • Shells- these come in various shapes and sizes, and are all beautiful!
  • Pencils- if you have some cute ones pencils (or if your friend is desperate for some) stick them in!
  • A gift card- if your friend has a specific place they like, you could give them a gift card for it :)
  • Ponytails- a simple gift, but still fun
  • Keychains- you could hand make some, or buy and mail them to your friend
  • Recipes- handwritten, or some of their favorite dishes
  • A poem- one of their favorite poems, or you could make your own!
  • A journal- it may not seem like it’d fit, but if you make your own small one, it’ll work!
  • Mini ducks- random, I know, but I got some as a white elephant, so it’s an idea ;P
  • A bandana- if you fold it right, this cute accessory should fit!
  • Christmas decor- send some mini decorations to them to help them get in the Christmas spirit! (This idea is best if you do it before Christmas, though ;))

Card Inspiration:
  • A shaped card- it could be shaped like a gingerbread man, tree, ornament, or whatever!
  • Store bought card- it may not be homemade, but there are lots of good options
  • Gingerbread themed card- take some brown paper and decorate it with white marker/pencil!
  • Decorated card- use a plain piece of paper, and add some marker, pencil, confetti, etc :D
  • Glittery card- (this can be shaped or just a normal paper) use glitter to make the card extra fun!
  • Book themed card- make your card look like a book (Christmassy or not)
  • Card with writing- put a fun poem, joke, quote, ‘Merry Christmas’, or something else on the front of your card!
  • Card with a picture- print a picture of you and your friend, or of something else and glue it to the front of the card

I hope these ideas helped you to get some ideas for your friend this Christmas, and that you found some that you would like to do! Happy holidays!
